The Golf Course
Alsager Golf & Country Club is a renowned parkland golf course, set on undulating land, from the highest point of which a view of up to 6 counties can be enjoyed on a clear day.
The course is tree lined throughout making accuracy of utmost importance and provides a combination of challenge and playability throughout your round.
The course is maintained in superb condition year round and has extremely good drainage due to recent investment ensuring the course is open and in playable condition throughout the year.
At Par 70 (SSS 70) off the white tees, Par 70 (SSS 69) off the yellow tees and Par 72 (SSS 71) off the red tees the course provides a good golfing test whilst providing a very fair and enjoyable round of golf.

Hole 1
Yardage – White 190 – Yellow 180
A gentle downhill par 3 demanding accuracy with a long iron or even a small wood depending on wind conditions. The left side of the green is protected by a bunker and on the right trees will catch the unwary golfer.
Yardage – Red 175
A reachable par 3 from the tee requiring accuracy to avoid trees lining the fairway and bunker to the left back of the green.
Hole 2
Yardage – White 332 – Yellow 305
A tree lined par 4 with a gentle uphill fairway requiring an accurate drive, which leaves a medium/high iron to a raised green. Take care to avoid the bunkers to the left and right of the green.
Yardage – Red 305
A left of centre drive required over the fairway pond, leaving a shot into the green avoiding bunkers at the front of the green.
Hole 3
Yardage – White 503 – Yellow 495
A good par 5 providing a test for even the best of golfers. Accuracy off the tee is essential to drive into the gap between the trees on the left and the trees and ditch on the right. The risk of going for the green in two shots can bring reward or disaster – the green is protected by a ditch running across the fairway on the approach and by bunkers on the left. If you prefer to take three shots to the green it is best to place the second shot towards the right side of the fairway to provide a good view of the green.
Yardage – Red 477
Drive to centre of fairway, avoiding the pond on the left and trees to the right, a simple second shot on this par 5 holds no real problem, leaving a shot onto the green avoiding the bunkers to the left and the ditch in front of the green.
Hole 4
Yardage – White 165 – Yellow 158
A par 3 with a long narrow green that can alter the hole length depending on the pin position. Beware of the pool to the front left of the green.

A short par 3 with ditches running towards the green and a pond to the left to negotiate, a hole where birdies and pars are always possible.

Hole 5
Yardage – White 422 – Yellow 372
This is the first of three holes that the locals call ”Amen Corner”. A stream runs across the fairway which requires a carry of approximately 240 yards from the tee to clear. Whether laying up, or going for it with the driver, accuracy is required. The 5th hole has out of bounds along its entire length on the left hand side and trees on the right. A good drive leaves a medium iron to the green – if you lay up you will be hitting a long iron or wood to reach the green.
Yardage – Red 304
Will you play short of the ditch or take it on? If you take it on the green becomes reachable with your second shot, beware of the out of bounds to your left.
Hole 6
Yardage – White 452 – Yellow 430
The second hole of ”Amen Corner” is another stiff test. Again, a stream runs across the fairway and a long drive is required to carry the hazard. A lay up from the tee leaves a long iron into a Mackenzie green protected by a bunker on the left. Also beware the large pond to the left of the green. This hole is a serious test of your golfing prowess. If you par the hole then congratulate yourself and move boldly to the next.
Yardage – Red 362
Another play short of the ditch or take it on hole.
If short play for position as this hold is a slight dog left, and for faders of the ball, beware the pond to the left of the fairway.
Hole 7
Yardage – White 394 – Yellow 383
The last hole of ”Amen Corner ” is another challenge that requires you to place your drive over the top or to the right of the oak tree sited to the left of centre of the fairway. The fairway is a gentle uphill climb and is tree lined to a long narrow green that is bunkered on the left-hand side.
Yardage – Red 327
An accurate drive is required avoiding the two oak trees ahead of the tee, the uphill fairway makes this a long hole with some excellent putting required on this green.
Hole 8
Yardage – White 362 – Yellow 349
Alsager’s signature hole which is attractive and pleasing to the eye. Drive on this par 4 between two oaks and to the right centre of the fairway. Then the green is opened up. Take aim with short iron, again between two trees to a green that is well protected by bunkers.
Yardage – Red 339
A right of centre drive will open up the green for your next shot, but you will need to avoid the trees and the ditch if you are to make your par.
Hole 9
Yardage – White 163 – Yellow 151
A gentle uphill par 3 with a semi-blind sloping green. The green slopes uphill from front to back and is protected by three bunkers in front and one more on the left side. Select your medium iron with great care to avoid the problems posed by this delightful short hole.
Yardage – Red 151
A reachable par 3 avoiding trees and bunkers with a green running from back to front.
Hole 10
Yardage – White 369 – Yellow 357
A downhill dog leg right par 4 that requires a very accurate drive if you are to avoid a ditch that runs down the left side of the fairway. On the other hand if you drive too far right from the raised tee, then you could go Out Of Bounds or become entangled in the large trees that protect the right side of the fairway. A good drive leaves a relatively easy medium/short iron to a flat green.
Yardage – Red 322
Decision time, play short to take it on. If driving over the ditch across the fairway, beware the ditch running down the left and the out of bounds to the right.
Hole 11
Yardage – White 321 – Yellow 300
A pleasing short par 4 that gives a good opportunity for a birdie. If you place your drive middle to right of the fairway you are rewarded with a short iron into a green that has a deep bunker on the left side and a large shallow bunker on the right side of the green. Neither presents a problem if your drive is in position.
Yardage – Red 246
A good drive to the centre of the fairway will allow for a short shot into the green and a possible birdie chance.
Hole 12
Yardage – White 431 – Yellow 418
A long and difficult par 4/5 that needs your longest drive if you wish to hit the green with your second shot. Avoid the two fairway bunkers before hitting a long iron or wood to the two tiered green that is set into the hillside and is protected by out of bounds and a bunker on the left side. On the green you are often left with a fast downhill putt that tests your prowess with the putter to the full. A true test of any golfers ability and skill.
Yardage – Red 422
A long par 5 requires a straight drive to avoid the thick rough and fairway bunker to your right. Out of bounds runs the length of the hold on your left and the two tiered green will test your putting abilities.
Hole 13
Yardage – White 347 – Yellow 330
A downhill par 4 that provides an opportunity to open your shoulders, but you must protect against straying into the trees. A good tee shot leaves a short iron to a green that slopes away from front to back and is protected by a small bunker on the right.
Yardage – Red 325
A beautiful downhill par 4 where accuracy from the tee will avoid the trees to the left and right allowing for a shot into a front to back sloping green.
Hole 14
Yardage – White 357 – Yellow 330
A long and difficult par 4 that needs your longest drive if you wish to hit the green with your second shot. Avoid the two fairway bunkers before hitting a long iron or wood to the green that is set into the hillside. On the green you are often left with a fast downhill putt that tests your prowess with the putter to the full. A true test of any golfers ability and skill.
Yardage – Red 268
Hold you nerve and drive over the pond avoiding fairway bunkers to the left and right. The green is reachable for big hitters in two, but make sure you are up there or the bank may take it away, too big and the green will leave you with a downhill put to the pin.
Hole 15
Yardage – White 112 – Yellow 104
A short par 3 perched on top of the highest point on the course protected by bunkers left and right. Aim to keep left of the pin to leave an uphill putt. Take a moment as you play the hole, and take in the breathtaking views. They are spectacular and provide a near 360 degree panoramic view of several counties. The mountains of Snowdonia can even be seen on a good, clear day.
Yardage – Red 96
A short par 3 requiring an accurate shot into the green, with the possibility of a birdie.
Hole 16
Yardage – White 421 – Yellow 401
A delightful downhill par 4/5 that once again gives you the feeling that you can open your shoulders and let fly. Beware of the ditch that runs to the left of the fairway for the length of the hole. Aim your drive to the right side of the fairway your ball kicks left into the middle/left side of the fairway. This leaves you with a short/middle iron to a green that slopes away from you. Danger from running through the steep sided green may cause you to err on the side of caution.
Yardage – Red 401
Drive right of centre avoiding out of bounds to the left and the ditch running to the left of the fairway, reachable green opening up a birdie chance.
Hole 17
Yardage – White 496 – Yellow 478
A gentle downhill par 5 that is a slightly dog leg right provides a excellent opportunity of a birdie or even eagle for the low handicap player. A faded drive anywhere on the fairway is acceptable (so long as you miss the fairway bunkers); this leaves a medium/long iron to along narrow but well bunkered green. For mere mortals, a second set of fairway bunkers come into play with your second shot. All players must beware the out of bounds that runs almost the whole length of the fairway and green.
Yardage – Red 457
Out of bounds runs to the left right down to the green, keep out of the trees and you have a good chance of a par on this hole.
Hole 18
Yardage – White 305 – Yellow 294
A slight uphill dog leg right par 4 once again provides an opportunity for a birdie. A faded drive aimed at the left side of the fairway misses the two fairway bunkers leaving a short iron into a semi blind green. The green is protected with two front bunkers and a rear bunker.
Yardage – Red 248
Be brave! Out of bounds to your left, a ditch across the fairway and two bunkers waiting to catch your drive, avoid these and another birdie/par opportunity may come your way.
